Our mission partners will be:
Crowley UMC, Crowley, Texas
Crowley UMC is lead by Pastor Mary Gean Cope. She is excited to be one of our hosts in the Ft. Worth area. Crowley will be working to identify homes that are in need of repair and/or need wheelchair ramps.
El Buen Samaritano UMC, Ft. Worth, Texas
El Buen Samaritano UMC is lead by Rev. Martinez, who is a teacher, preacher, counselor, mentor and evangelist. When God called Rev. David Martinez he told him to feed his sheep. Rev. Martinez has continued to share the good news to everyone that God puts in his way. Rev. Martinez always says, "You need to have the fire of God in your soul. In order to have the fire you must walk the walk with Jesus and practice your faith every day." El Buen Samaritano will be working to identify homes that are in need of repair and/or need wheelchair ramps in the Polytechnic part of Ft. Worth.
2012 Point Requirements and Opportunities
Thank you for giving your time, talent and treasure in the pursuit of being who God has created us to be. Part of the nature of the AYM trip to fully engage and be part of the experience of preparing and helping make this trip a reality before, during, and after. To that end we require that every student participating in AYM earn a certain number of points as we work our way towards departure. Listed below are the requirements and opportunities to earn points toward this year's trip. If you have any questions, please call the student ministry office 281-360-4500 ext, 110.
To participate in AYM you need to earn at least eight points
Required Activities:
• Participate in at least one of the two car washes (one in April and one in May) designed to raise funds for AYM. These car washes help offset the cost of the trip, thus helping us keep the individual cost lower. Earn one point for each car wash you work.
• Sell three AYM Trip Stocks. These stocks help to offset the cost of the trip, thus helping us keep the individual cost lower. Earn one point for each of the required (3) AYM Trip Stocks you sell.
Other Point Raising Opportunities:
• Sell more than the required (3) AYM stocks. Each additional stock is worth one additional point plus you will receive $10 off your trip balance for each stock sold after the required three. (Example: sell 25 stocks = free trip.)
• Sell T-shirt sponsorships. There are two levels of T-shirt sponsorships this year. Level one is $50 and is worth one point. Level two is $100 and is worth two points. (T-shirt sponsorship forms will be available in the spring.)
• Because building community is important, you can earn points by having at least 75 percent attendance at Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF) Sunday evenings from 5 to 7. Or, you can earn two points for 75 percent attendance in our Sunday morning Sunday school from October 1 through May 1. (Be sure to sign in each week.) A total of four points are available, two for Sunday evening MYF attendance and two for Sunday school attendance. Members of our Sixth Grade Confirmation Class can earn two points for attending 90 percent of the Mission 6 opportunities between October 1 and May 1.
